Copied from formal complaint: My husband and I came here (12445 n cavecreek rd, Phoenix 85022) a bit over a month and a half ago to get our oil changed, at the time Josh told us we needed to get our brakes done, that's all that needed to be done. 2 weeks ago (1 week before we took our car in to Fletcher's for the brakes) we had to take our car to the car dealership to get a computer chip repaired, and they told us the same thing. So we decided to come back to Fletcher's due to the good service, being right around the corner, and a good brake deal. We took our car in for the brake service on 7/2/15. Now, my husband and I have a toddler and due with a baby any day now. When we came into this location Josh informed us that the best option for our car would be the $99 brakes instead of the $59, or else they would squeal and wouldn't last long. My husband and I both told him that the $59 is ALL we can afford right now, that we just need something temporary because we have a baby due ANY DAY, just until we can save up to get the good brakes done on the car..but we just needed something for now because money is tight when you're expecting a baby any day. We made that VERY clear and he said he understood. A few hours later my husband received a call from Josh stating that we needed "everything" (both axles. pads, rotors, shocks, struts, etc) done and costs of all repairs would be $3,000. My husband kept telling him that we do not have that type of money, as we told him earlier, and he kept pushing trying to get him to pay. My husband kept trying to explain that we DO NOT have the money, and he kept lowering the price. As I told him earlier we were trying to do things as cheap as possible because we have no money with our baby coming any day now. We would not magically have money by lowering the price, when we say we don't have the funds we don't have the funds, and I even said loudly as my husband was on the phone that we only had $100 to our name and we don't have credit cards. Not everyone can pull that amount of money out of thin air just because they "need" some repairs. Especially with a kid and newborn coming. The final time my husband told him we don't have the money, he then proceeded to tell us that our car needed to be towed back to our home...as we said, we did not have the money and we only lived a few blocks away in the neighborhood, no main streets. He suggested again. My husband told him since we don't have the money to repair the car that we will be on our way to pick it up. About 15 minutes later we arrived and our car was still up, no problem. As we walked in no worker was inside and had to wait a few minutes, again..no problem. The worker who came in had no idea what was going on and then told us that they will bring the car around as soon as they can. Josh pulls our car up to the front door and swings the door open, walks in all fast pissed off and rudely gives my husband the keys. The worker asks about the paperwork because he was confused, and Josh gives him a short remark in a rude voice and walks out the back door. He did not stop walking for ANY of this..didn't stop to give him the keys, didn't stop to explain anything to us (which normally mechanics do after they've looked at your car), didn't stop to talk to the worker, nothing. He was in the front door and out the back in 5 seconds. Possibly less. So the worker not knowing what to do handed us the paper and told us we were able to go. That was the RUDEST experience I have ever had ANYWHERE. Pissed off because we don't have hundreds or thousands of dollars to pull out of thin air for unexpected repairs, that we told him before-hand that we did not have. Which he said he "understood" when we dropped off the car, obviously not. And, whenever we have needed something fixed and didn't have the funds, anywhere else, the mechanic wasn't rude and when we arrived went over everything in person that was needed. This, was the total opposite. Now here's the kicker. As I stated above we had to get our computer chip repaired at the dealership a week before we came to this location. At the time the dealership told us the same thing, all we needed was brake pads, possibly rotors..exactly what we were told my Josh a month and half prior to this incident. So we decided to take the car back to the dealership and have them double check. The dealership confirmed, all we needed was brake pads and rotors, everything else was tested and fine. Just to be sure, we got another opinion at a shop we went to to get our a/c tested (computer chip problem), that before we went to Fletcher's told us the same thing...brake pads and possibly rotors. When we arrived and had them recheck, they also confirmed, brake pads and rotors ONLY. We pulled out our paperwork from Josh and showed the mechanic. First thing he did was laugh. Then, he brought over the other mechanic that helped him with our car..he laughed too. They tested everything else and it was FINE. ALL that was needed was pads and rotors. Now, how is it that a month and a half after Josh told us that all we needed was brakes, we magically needed "everything desperately repaired" and needed a tow? There's no way "everything" needed a repair THAT BAD within a month and a half with not being noticeable the first time. Also, why did two places before Fletcher's tell us pads only with possible rotors, then afterwards confirm all we needed was pads and rotors? You would think another place would tell us the same thing. Nope. Thankfully my aunt assisted us in payment for our brakes since they were needed to bring my baby home safely. It's very disgusting that someone would LIE to that extent just to make money. He knew he could (try to) take advantage of us knowing we have a family and a baby coming, because we would want everything safe for my child and possibly scare us. Well good job on that. I went home crying and stressing over the fact that I wouldnt have a car to get to the hospital in, bring my baby home in, or have my husband get to work. I have high blood pressure that my doctor has been monitoring for the safety of my baby..and that raised it through the roof. It was almost to the point my doctor was going to have me sent to the ER. I could've had complications and risked the health of my unborn, all because your worker/manager wanted to take advantage of a situation. Before this incident, I had no issues with this location, Josh was very nice the first time we took our car there. I even sent my mother there to get her oil done, and praised this company to others. But now, never again. I have lived in this area for 19 years, my husband and I both have huge families, and we know many people around here, around the city, and online. Many people already know of this incident, and even more will know to NEVER come to this location. It's very disgusting and shocking to have someone know your situation, act like they understand, then turn around and be pushy, unbelievably rude for something you have no control over, and come to find out it was all one big scam. Horrible customer service, horrible employee, and horrible person. I will not let this go, especially if it is handled like nothing. I understand mechanics need to make money, but this was way too far and beyond anything imaginable. I am very glad my aunt didn't offer to pay for our brake service that day and lose out on all of that money. They will never get a CENT of money from us or anyone we know for that matter, ever again.
Someone found my story that I had posted on facebook and put it out here, however, it is not how I posted it on facebook. It has a lot correct, but some of the story has been put in other positions and some of it they changed my words.
Fletchers Tires are very bad. I also went to BBB and they took Fletchers Tires side because I refused to take it back to Fletchers Tires for them to try and correct my still existing problems. So far I have been fixing the problems myself. AC problem was fan motor.
Knock sensor problem is still the pigtail. Replaced broken vacuum switches (they broke). Paid for oil leak fix (replace valve cover gaskets) and valve covers still leak. Nothing I paid for except the rotor cap and spark plugs and wires were fixed by Fletchers Tires.
Charged me for a distributor cap and was never replaced. Charged me over $500 for parts and I could buy them at O'rielly's for less than $200.
